UI/UX-Design

I’ve worked for many different types of companies. Including large corporations such as TUI, the BMW Group and Postbank Germany, for which I helped develop e-learning products on behalf of german e-learning developer imc AG. In the same way, I also work across industries for medium-sized companies such as Celesta GmbH, Schott GmbH or the technology provider hpc24.

Even if UI and UX are interdependent and it is sometimes difficult to look at both separately, they describe two very different aspects of a digital product.

UI design focuses on the visual design of an interactive application, whereas UX design aims to offer the user a positive user experience. The focus is on the feeling that should arise during and after the interaction with a user interface. In short, UI design is more about the look and UX design more about the feel and structure of a digital application.

Thus, the user interface should be visually pleasing, intuitive and easy to comprehend, the user experience should be fun, well organized and keep the user „in the flow“.

Geographical distance is, of course, an issue that some customers initially are concerned about. However, this distance can easily be bridged with modern communication channels.

Online meetings using Zoom, Skype or Google Meet work just as well as face-to-face meetings – since you don’t have to leave your office, sometimes even more conveniently. And with collaboration tools such as Asana or Conceptboard, projects can also be managed online and design ideas can be worked on and shared across long distances.

Just the time difference can occasionally make the collaboration a little more challenging. But in my experience this only really plays a role in very time-critical projects. So far at least, I’ve always kept my deadlines…
